Mario Carrier is a professional urban planner and sociologist. He has a Bachelor\u2019s degree in sociology (1983), a Master\u2019s in Regional Planning and Development (ATDR) (1986), and a PhD in Economic Sociology (1992), all three from Laval University. He was a professor in the Department of Science Management at the University of Quebec in Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue (UQAT), where he was director of the Desjardins Chair in the Development of Small Communities from 1996 to 2001. He is currently a professor at \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019am\u00e9nagement du territoire et de d\u00e9veloppement r\u00e9gional (\u00c9SAD) (Graduate School of Regional Planning and Development) at Laval University, where he has pursued his career since 2002, and where he teaches local and regional development. His research focuses mainly on the issues of economic development, innovation networks of companies, territorial governance, public policy tools relating to development matters, planning and the environment. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Centre for Research in Planning and Development (CRAD) at Laval University.<\/p>\n<\/div>
